Catnip is a perennial and a member of the mint
family. It attracts and affects cats due to the presence
of the chemical nepetalactone. In addition, the catnip
flowers are attractive to bees and butterflies.
Germination may be aided by scarifying the seed with extra fine
sandpaper by rubbing gently a few times.
