Kale grows best in cooler seasons when the temperatures are 5 to 21 degrees Celsius (41 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit).  Hot temperatures will make kale bitter.  Harvest when the buds begin to spread out.   Plant in spring after the last frost or in warmer climates, in the late summer / early autumn.
