An old favorite with gardeners, Sweet Pea produces fragrant clusters of white, red, blue, pink or purple flowers.  It is a vining plant that will need support and it can grow to 10 feet high.  Due to its popularity over the centuries, it is available in numerous cultivars.  When growing from seed, it can be helpful to soak the seeds overnight.  Sweet Pea is a cool climate plant and does not thrive as well in warmer climates (above 30 degrees Celsius).  Don't let the word "pea" fool you, all parts of this plant are poisonous if ingested.
